12/26/2023 0 Comments Best interface for logic pro x 2020![]() I'm wondering, if 64 Bit being the new norm, are the Audio interfaces on the market right now going to have long shelf lives? Or are they on the verge of being replaced in the near future with the new generation of Audio Interfaces? I'm hoping to buy something that won't be obsolete in a couple years. If you go with rack mounted interface of course also budget in a patch bay as this will make things much easier if you're connecting cables often.Īre all the above mentioned compatible with 64 Bit OS? Especially the Metric. Anything that can run standalone and can serve as an ADAT slave is always a good investment. ![]() Great thing about them is they're incredibly affordable, the pre-amps are on par with the aforementioned companies, has ADAT in and out, Two independant headphone monitors, and also physical controls for every channel on the front.ĭue to the physical controls they can be used indefinitely as an ADAT slave when you find something more high tier to host it - effectively giving you scope for a very affordable 16-in setup in the future, and a ready-to-go budget option for the interim to keep you running. If you're considering presonus/focusrite gear you may as well save yourself more cash and consider the Behringer UMC1820 too as a wildcard option. Does your presonus have ADAT connectivity? And as you asked about expansion, 2x Focusrite Saffires can be linked via firewire, but as mentioned above they're end of life products now. Even though they were always helpful with Tech Support.ĭon't forget that any Audio Interface that has ADAT out you can expand the inputs at a later date (Depending on how many ins/outs the host interface can address). Not that I'd have to spend another $2500.00 or more for something equivalent to my 16.4.2. I was under the impression when OS' changed it would be a matter of doing some internal Software upgrade from PreSonus. Will the Sellers tell you that an Interface is at or near end of life?Įnd of life decisions & knowledge of such a thing for Interface Mixers wasn't even a thing as far as I knew when I bought it? Actually not until a couple months ago. I’ve had good experiences with my MOTU gear. (Same company now) as part of your research make sure that whatever hardware you get has support for 10.15 already, it’s been long enough that any company that is serious about supporting (and capable of supporting) it should have their drivers out. While I’m a huge fan of Novation the lack of 64 bit/newer OS support for Focusrite’s Saffire line has not impressed me. ![]() Yeah, you just hit on what I was going to post about, make sure whatever you get isn’t nearing end-of-life status and has a company that stands behind it’s products. I've like having an Interface Mixer but am considering just getting a less expensive Audio Interface if they have to be replaced every few years. I thought it would last more than 4-5 years. It's been great but it isn't upgradable to 64 Bit OS. I have a PreSonus 16.4.2 Studio Live interface Mixer now. ![]()
